Making its way into the top 10, Jamia Millia Islamia is holding the 10th position.

Jamia Millia Islamia was established in 1920, in Uttar Pradesh. 

In 1935, this central university was shifted to Okhla, East Delhi.

United Grants Commission (UGC) granted this university the Deemed status in 1962 and later in 1988, this university became a central university.

On 29th October 2020, this university completed its 100th year of excellence.

9. Savitribai Phule Pune University:

Savitribai Phule Pune University widely also known as SPPU was established in 1949, in Pune. 

The SPPU was formed after a year when the Bombay Legislature passed the Pune University Act, in 1948. 

Later on 9 August 2014, the University changed its name from Pune University to Savitribai Phule Pune University to honor Savitribai Phule.

Savitribai greatly contributed her life to women's empowerment and education. She has been an inspiration for many women.

The University is distributed in 12 districts of Western Maharashtra affiliated with 705 colleges.

SPPU is also called as 'Oxford of the East'.

Manipal University was founded in 1953 by Dr. T. M. A. Pai who was also the founder of India's first private medical school.

Calcutta University formerly known as the University of Calcutta was established on 24 January 1857.

The University of Hyderabad was established in 1974 in Hyderabad, Telangana.

In 2015, University received the award of Best Central University in India by the President of India.

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham previously known as Amrita University was established in 1994, by Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi (Amma).
